Who is Kolteo for?

Freelance developers and small agencies who look after several client sites and want to know when one goes down or slips in search, before the client notices.

How often are pages checked?

Each page is checked at the interval you set for it, down to every few minutes. Every check records the HTTP status and the response time, which feed the uptime figures and the charts. You can also require a text on the page, so an error page that still answers normally counts as down.

What does the SEO analysis look at?

The page is rendered in a real browser as a mobile visitor sees it, then checked across ten topics. You get a score out of 100, a score per topic and a list of what to fix with the values we measured. Each page is analysed again every week by default, or daily or monthly if you prefer. Site-wide checks complete it: missing pages that answer 404, one address for the site, email authentication (SPF, DMARC) and titles shared by several pages. Each analysis is compared with the previous one, and you are alerted when a page stops being indexable or its score drops by 10 points or more.

Can my clients see the results?

Yes. Every page has its own status page behind a private link that you choose to share. It is not listed by search engines, and your notes and contacts never appear on it. You can also keep the status pages of a domain to yourself.

Where do alerts go?

To the contacts you add on each domain: email addresses, Discord or Slack. You get one message when a page goes down (every failure is checked again 20 seconds later, so a network blip never alerts) and one when it is back, never a flood in between.

Will I know before a certificate or a domain expires?

Yes. Every domain is checked once a day. You are warned 14, 7 and 1 day before its HTTPS certificate expires, right away if it becomes invalid, and 30 and 7 days before the domain name expires. A few extensions, such as .io and .eu, do not publish their expiry date: Kolteo then says so instead of guessing.

What does my client receive?

Only what you choose. Each page has a status page you can share, and contacts you tick get a monthly PDF report on the 1st, with your logo: uptime, incidents, SEO with what was fixed during the month, and renewal dates. By email it comes attached, on Discord and Slack as a summary with a download link.

How many sites can I monitor?

Up to three domains per account and twenty pages per domain. Pausing a domain stops its checks without losing its history.
